Day vs. Night Diapers: What Actually Matters

Nighttime is all about capacity and a secure seal. During the day, frequent changes hide small fit issues. At night, a longer stretch means you need extra absorbency and fewer gaps.

If you see overnight leaks, try sizing up at bedtime. A slightly larger diaper can hold more and reduce compression leaks (when a full diaper gets pressed in sleep). Fasten tabs evenly, then check that the back panel sits higher for back sleepers.

For tummy sleepers, make sure the front panel is smooth and snug. If you use cream, let it settle briefly before fastening to prevent slipping. Many families do great with a “night size-up” even without a special overnight diaper.
